Today, I made one of our favorite chip dips, the 7-Layer Dip. Its ingredients are quite simple and have a sort of Mexican flair, which makes it go really well with tortilla chips.
We used some of the fresh chiles and a jalapeno that we are growing on our balcony, which really helps add flavor and spice to the dip. The base layer is a refried bean dip, which is then topped with a mixture of mayo, sour cream and taco seasoning. On top of that you add guacamole (mashed avocado, salt and lemon juice), chopped jalapenos, cheese, black olives and tomatoes (which makes a total of 7 “layers”, hence how it gets its name) and then serve as is with tortilla
